I Can't Put it Down...

Have you ever started reading a book and become so enraptured by it that you suddenly look up at the clock and realize two hours have passed, without your notice? Have you ever closed a book at midnight, with a smile on your face, already looking forward to opening that same book the next day to find out what happens?

This just happened to me (not for the first time, I assure you). The only trouble is, I was going to write this blog post much earlier, and have something stupendous and marvelous to say, but I was too caught up in a book to remember to write it.

My apologies. As a way to make amends, I thought I'd share the name of this book with you, so that you, too, can enjoy a wonderful read and get caught up in a delightful story world and fore go all your other responsibilities.

The book is Short-Straw Bride by Karen Whitemeyer - one of my new, favorite authors. Every book I've read of hers has left me thoroughly satisfied. I'm only a quarter of the way through this one - but I can already tell you I'll be making room in my week to finish it.

What about you? Have you read Short-Straw Bride? Have you read any of Karen's other books? What book are you reading now?

Don't forget to join me on Friday! I've been busy taking some AMAZING pictures of Fall colors in Minnesota.

  1. I loved Short-Straw Bride. It's easy to see why Karen took home a Carol Award for this title. She's one of my must-read authors. She's also a really nice person.

  2. Keli - I had the opporuntity to hear a little bit of Karen's publishing story at ACFW when I went to the spotlight on Bethany House. She does seem like a very sweet lady - which makes me all the more excited to read her books! :)

  3. Love this book - in fact, I won a copy of it from Keli! I tore it open and read it the same weekend I received it and fell in love with those boys! It was my first Karen Witemeyer book, too, so guess what? Fell in love with Karen. Yep.

    Blessings - and happy reading!

  13. I think getting lost to a book is the perfect excuse for a writer not to get to her blog post in the way she'd intended *ahem* not that that's every happened to me ;)

  14. Oohhh, I have Short-Straw Bride on my Kindle and can't wait to start it. My TBR pile has demanded other books come first, but now I know to block out a huge chunk of time whenever I start Karen't book. :)

Karen - thank you for stopping by to chat today! I'm happy I went to the Spotlight on Bethany, too (one of my top dream publishing houses since I was a little girl!) and I'm happy I bought Short-Straw Bride. I don't know if you remember me, but I introduced myself at one of the last ACFW meals and told you I had just bought the book and it was one of the first ones I wasn't obligated to review in a long time - so it was a simply for fun read! I couldn't help but share it with everyone! AND - I can't wait for the next book about Crockett!! He's already intrigued me!

Melissa - I remember you raving about this book, too! Word of mouth is the best marketing tool.

Stacy - I know you'll love it - especially if you love Karen's other books!

Johanna - :) It is a good reason to forget to post!

Sarah - I know! I wish I had more time to devote to it - but I'm also trying to finish up my own editing by the end of the month, so I'll have to for go some sleep to finish the book (but I'm not complaining - it's worth it)!
