Katie & Mike Meyer ~ and my beautiful girls! |
I just returned from a three day wedding! My husband's brother was married over the weekend and we traveled to the Twin Cities on Thursday evening for the rehearsal and groom's dinner (my husband was best man and our daughters were the flower girl and ring bearess). The ceremony was on Friday evening in their backyard with thirty-five close family and friends, with a dinner following, and the large reception was on Saturday afternoon/evening with a hundred and fifty guests, also in their backyard. It was a lovely wedding (I took over four hundred pictures!), but I'm happy to have the family back home and I look forward to sleeping in our own beds again (three nights in a hotel is enough for this mama).
By the way, I started reading a new book over the weekend (between wedding events) and I'm almost finished. It's called With Every Letter, by Sarah Sundin. It's excellent! I'll be sharing my review of it in the coming weeks - but, wow - love it!
I thought it would be fun to share a few of the pictures from the wedding (scroll down to see the winner of last week's book giveaway!):

What about you? What did you do over the weekend? Reading a good book? Any big plans in the near future?
What a beautiful family you have! Those girls look so sweet in their wedding finery, and those twins are cutie pies!
ReplyDeleteI did bookkeeping this weekend, and I'm reading The Christmas Bride by Grace Livingston Hill. My big plans for the future are getting my act together and getting to and from the ACFW Conference in just 10 almost 9 days! Squee!
What wonderful pictures. Your kids are adorable. Love those bright pink dresses. I'm glad you had such a good time.
ReplyDeleteI loved With Every Letter. Sarah is one of my must-read authors. I'm posting my rave review of her book and giving away a copy on my blog tomorrow. =)
Gabrielle,
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pink! And it looked so pretty against the beautiful green of nature!
Been reading Laura's book this weekend and my heart is so full of the ways of love. Teri - congratulations. You will not be disappointed!
Blessings,
Becky
Your kids are ADORABLE, Gabrielle! It looks like you all had lots of fun!!
ReplyDeleteI loved all of Sarah Sundin's books, and I'm looking forward to reading "With Every Letter" soon!
I did a lot of work over the weekend. But I can't complain too much since the weekend before I had a four-day break. Great wedding photos!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Two soccer games this weekend and my kiddos put on a play of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the neighbors. A crack up!
ReplyDelete~ Wendy
The girls look beautiful in their dresses~ I am sure they loved being a part of the festivities. Looks like a wonderful time was had by all!
ReplyDeleteSaturday I visited the craft fair in Rice, and then we spent the rest of the day with my family at home. Sunday we went to the cities for a cancer kids get together, through a group called HOPE KIDS, we had a great time! Then we returned home to watch football.
I am reading a book right now....It is called Learning to Swim by Sara J Henry. It is pretty good so far, although I am only to chapter 6 (they are short chapters, and there are 50 chapters in the book of roughly 290 pages....).
Blessings to you this week friend~
Jennifer Bailey
You all looked beautiful; Ellis and Maryn....gorgeous!! Their dresses looked adorable on them and I loved their hair, just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteErica - I'm really excited to meet you at ACFW!! I can't believe it's coming so quickly. The Christmas Bride sounds like a lovely book - has it released yet?
ReplyDeleteKeli - the bride's mother made the dresses! I hope to use them as Christmas and Easter dresses, as well. Loved your review of With Every Letter on your blog today!
Becky - yes, we were able to get some great outdoor pictures - I can't wait to see the photographer's pics! I'm so happy you're enjoying Laura's book, it's one of my favorites.
Heidi - thank you! We did have fun. I can't wait to read Sarah's other books - if this one was any indication, I know I'll love the others, too.
Melissa - that's how I feel about the upcoming week. I have lots and lots to do to get the six of us ready for me to be gone five days, so it was nice to have this long weekend break.
Wendy - I bet that was a fun play to watch! My cousins and I used to put on concerts and plays for our aunts and uncles when we were children - we still have some fun pictures and videos from those days. :)
Jennifer - my only regret for the weekend is that I had to miss the craft fair on Saturday, but Dave and I were able to get out to it on Sunday without the kiddos. The food is good, but SOOO expensive! I'm happy you guys had a great weekend.
Angela!!! I'm so happy to see you here today! Did you drop some peaches off at our front door yesterday?!?! Dave thought maybe it was you. :) Looking forward to the multiples class starting up next week.
I love that photo of you and your girls!
ReplyDeleteGabrielle, The photos are just beautiful! What a beautiful, blessed time:) Thanks for including us here! I remembered you were away this weekend and thought of all the fun you were having though I imagine sleeping in your own bed was heavenly:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Teri! I'll be happy to mail a book her way - I have one ready to go...
Welcome back, Gabrielle. It looks like you were missed:)
What beautiful photos and memories! Family time is the bestest - especially on such a happy occasion. Congratulations to your brother-in-law and his new bride!! I'm reading John Ortberg's new book, "Who Is This Man?" In a word...INCREDIBLE insight into the life and person of Jesus.
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty dresses...and daughters!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis weekend we picked out our new puppy (who we get 2 weeks from today) and I did lots of errands to get ready for ACFW. Yesterday, I relaxed for most of the day, which was really nice. :)
Julie - thank you! I can't wait to see the professional photographs - we were able to get a few of the whole family, but it was hard to keep those twins in one place for long!
ReplyDeleteLaura - yes, it is nice to be back in my own bed again, although the hotel was very nice. I will get Teri's address to you as soon as I have it - I can't wait for her to hold your book in her hands. :)
Donna - family events truly are the best. John Ortberg's book sounds fabulous. I'll have to put that one on my list. Thank for stopping by!!
Lindsay - Thank you and I will pop over to Facebook and take a look at your newest addition soon! Happy you were able to relax a bit yesterday. :)
what a beautiful family you have, gabrielle...the photos are great. thank youfor sharing :)

Love the pictures. Beautiful. I love the wedding colors! Weddings are such a joyful occasion. Everyone looks so happy!
ReplyDeleteHubby and I are getting away for our 25th wedding anniversary - which was in August. We didn't get to go anywhere in August because of my back problems. I am so looking forward to it.
OH they're so beautiful!!!! You all look just so elegant!
ReplyDeleteAfter I got out of lock-up, I had a great weekend. Nobody ID'd me so that was good.
:)
It was quiet. I went to the Farmer's Market with a friend, then we went out for the afternoon with the 2 sisters who took me to AZ and NM. Yesterday was Family Fun Day at church. :)
Beautiful pictures! And you have a beautiful (and handsome) family! I've never heard of a ring bearess, but I like it.
ReplyDeleteFriday night we went to a catfish restaurant way out in the country. This place literally was on the backside of nowhere, but the food was excellent. We met up some old friends (from my church youth group days) and some new friends we met only a few months ago. It was lots of fun!
Beautiful pictures! Glad that you had fun! I'm looking forward to reading your review of With Every Letter! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your daughters are beautiful, Gabrielle! They must have felt like such princesses in those dresses. :)
ReplyDeleteYou all look so beautiful! What a fun time. :) I always cry at weddings, do you?
ReplyDeleteYou took over four hundred pictures! Wow. I The ones you posted are great. It looks like it was a beautiful wedding and a great weekend with family.
ReplyDeleteI chilled at home this weekend, lol! I think the most interesting thing I did was drive down the road with my grandmother to visit my uncle, and even then, I stayed outside because Micah was acting up and my aunt has lots of breakable trinkets everywhere. Ah, the joys of age two. :-)
Perfect! SO happy to see this, friend!
ReplyDeleteGod's blessings! (LOVE weddings!)
Hmm... I'm currently reading (and enjoying!) a book by Irene Hannon: Fatal Judgement. I'm not usually prone to read romantic supsense but I've heard SO many good things about this author and about Sarah's book as well. Looking foward to that review.
I'm thinking I'll have to make space on my TBR pile! :-)
Hugs!
Karen - thank you for stopping by to peek at them! It was a wonderful wedding!
ReplyDeleteLoree - congratulations on 25 years! I hope you have fun and I hope your back is feeling better.
Jennifer - that sounds like a fun filled weekend. What's this about being locked up?!?! I bet it was fun visiting with those sisters and sharing some of your fun memories.
Teri - that sounds like a fun weekend - I've never eaten catfish, but I know it's a popular dish in the south. That's something I'd like to try one day. Congrats on winning Laura's book! I hope you love it as much as I do.
Livia - I can't wait to share my review of With Every Letter. It was such a good book to read - and so different than the usual historical fiction.
Sarah - they did feel beautiful and they were able to wear the dresses two days in a row. I loved the dresses and hope to use them for Christmas and Easter, as well!
Jessica - I get teary eyed if the bride does - but this one wasn't a teary-eyed bride! She is so much fun and she beamed through the vows.
Gwen - I'm a camera happy kind of gal (watch out ACFW conference attendees!). I know your pain with a two year old - I have two of them! We avoid many places right now. This too shall pass - but then you may have another one. :)
Ganise - yes, I love weddings, too! I've never read a romantic suspense before. Hmm...I'll have to keep that one in mind. Thanks for stopping by today!
You have shared great information on this wedding and I am sure you had great time. Last month, I arranged my brother’s ring ceremony by booking one of exotic San Francisco wedding venues. We all had lovely time and enjoyed this party.
