Minnesota Monday - All That Snow!

In the past few years we have had very dry winters. But this year, we've been blessed with an abundance of snow.

Here are some pictures from our latest snowstorm last week. It sounds like we could get more snow today and Thursday!

This is what our van looked like when we came out of church -
it was clean when we went in.

From the front window of our van on the drive home - what
you can't see behind that wall of snow is the Dairy Queen
which opened this week, just in time for the blizzard!!

This is our driveway and look how much snow accumulated in
the couple hours we were at church.

Our backyard and the Mississippi (it never freezes behind our
house, but it freezes to the north and the south of us).

The girls in the front yard making snow angels.

It snowed through the night (no school on Monday!) and the plows came
out the next morning. My boys had a blast watching the plows.

This is what I did during part of the storm after church on Sunday...
there are some perks to living in a cold climate.
What about you? Any large snowstorms in your neck of the woods lately? What's the weather like today where you live?

  1. We live on the west side of MI. Lots of lake effect snow :) You live right by the Mississippi! How pretty.

  2. 80 degrees yesterday! Sunshine and blue skies for miles!! That's the kind of winter weather I love. Ran in a tank top and shorts yesterday. This week we will have more 50 degree weather with rain, but that's ok because then it will be back in the 70-80s again. Yay! ;)

  3. Beautiful pictures!! Love the snow!

Any snowstorms in our neck of the woods? Humm. . . Let's see, we got an inch a month or so ago, it had all melted by noon. Lol. Now we're already into spring - flowers blooming, grass even needs to be cut, but it's been raining so much the mower sinks in the mushy ground. We had a very, very short winter. And although I'm not a big fan of cold weather, I have to admit I feel a little cheated. It did get down to 29 last night, but the highs will be in the 60's all week. All that said, we have been known to have a sudden cold spell in April. So, we'll see . . .

  4. Oh pretty!! I love new layers of snow. I actually don't know if it's been snowing in my neck of the woods 'cause I've been down in Phoenix. :) But I do love a good, pretty snow...not so much, though, when it gets to be March or April. :)

  5. Um. I'm cold just looking at your pictures.

Like Ruth said, we've been in the 70s-80s lately. Mel and I took a walk every day. It's been glorious weather!!

  6. I love snow ice cream! My mom used to make it for us and when we had a good snow a few years back (which is rare for MS) I made it for my kids. But not the yellow snow! :)

  7. Wow! I would love a good snow like that, but it would shut us down completely here! If we get a few inches Texas closes down EVERYTHING! And if anyone DOES get out on the roads, they don't know how to drive in it and there are wrecks EVERYWHERE! It's best to stay put when the snow comes. :)

  8. I'm a Chicagoan living in Kansas. Needless to say, I'm living vicariously through your pictures. So post more, Gabrielle! Ha.

Last year we had one snowfall. One. And it was maybe two inches. And it stuck around for less than a day.

    I miss a good snowy winter. :(

    1. Jennifer, tell it no way. Kansas needs it. Hope that helps?

    2. I just yelled out the window "Go to Kansas! Sally wants you more than I do!"
Keep an eye on the weather forecast. If they announce something like "and in a freakish turn of events, a massive storm turned Southeast and is headed straight toward Kansas!" that was me.

    Holy. Cow.

    No joke.
