My sister is coming home today! She will be here for a week and I'm so excited. :)
She hasn't been home since Christmas, but more importantly, she hasn't been here since she had her first baby which makes this visit all the more exciting! I can't wait to kiss my nephew's chubby little cheeks and see his smile. I wrote about how difficult it was to be far away from her when she had her baby here.
Andrea is on the right. Isn't she pretty? :) |

This was taken a week before the twins were born! |
Hi Gabe! I sure miss you and all of my LF friends. I love catching up with you on your blog. I especially love the picture of you and Andrea with your mom on Easter. You girls look so much like your two girls, it is crazy. Almost like seeing the present in the past. Keep writing, you are great at it and it makes me smile, laugh, cry. And it really makes me wish I had know you better while we lived near each other. Have fun with your sister and nephew!
ReplyDeleteBobbi Jo, I think about you guys all the time and I'm so thankful for Facebook and my blog (like I told you before you left), because it allows us to stay connected. I hope all is going well for you.
DeleteYes, my mom is always commenting how amazed she is when she looks at Ellis and Maryn - she says it's like looking at Andrea and I all over again. :)
Ohhh I didn't expect this today.
ReplyDeleteI haven't spoken with my sister in 3 years.
4 years ago our mom raised her voice at my niece. My sister accused Mom of child abuse. My sister doesn't like my brother's wife. "She just annoys me.". He hasn't spoken to my sister in 3 years either, but my brother and his wife have been happily married for 15 years. My brother and sister are an hour apart by plane. And guess what? My sister owns a plane. My sister monitors all the phone conversations between my dad and her kids, who are 17 and 15. She wouldn't let them swim more than 30 feet from shore, "it isn't safe" but then sent them buffalo hunting, with loaded hunting rifles. I have a brother. I HAD a sister.
You two are gorgeous!!!
I want my sister back. Only God can do that.
I'm sorry to hear that, Jennifer. I will pray that your sister and family can reconcile and be made whole again. I've found that life is far too short to stay angry.
DeleteThank you for the compliment.
Oh I heartily agree with you, I WANT her in my life. But she's so full of "keeping up appearances" that she's put walls up everywhere. I miss her very much. But I cannot abide how she treats our parents. Very sad.
DeleteYou are both gorgeous! I love my two sisters and we have so much fun together! Enjoy your time!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sherrinda! When I was pregnant with my second daughter (I didn't know her gender until she was born) - I wanted another girl so badly because I wanted my girls to have the same relationship I had with my sister. The doctor told us, unofficially, she thought it was a boy, but when she was born I'll never forget what the doc said: "You're a girl!?!?" :) I cried such happy tears.
DeleteI hope you had a productive, relaxing getaway this week!!
Enjoy your sisterly time! I have three of my own and I know how special it can be to get together. I also gravitate toward books with sister relationships in them.
ReplyDelete~ Wendy
Thanks, Wendy! I am looking forward to it. :) I also love books with sister relationships and my current WIP is about two sisters.
DeleteSisters are something extremely special~ I know your time with her this coming week will be, well, there are really no words to describe it really....it is such a huge thing! And bringing Tucker "home" for the first time will be such an awesome thing for your whole family!! How very exciting! May your coming week be everything and more! And Bobbi Jo was right...LOL....that picture of your mom and you and Andrea at Easter...it was looking at the present in the past. WOW! Your girls look just like you and your sister did~ INCREDIBLE resemblance!!!
ReplyDeleteI, too, have a sister, that I love dearly. She, my mom, and I talk daily. And now Peighton is in the mix too. Some days I talk to my sister about 4-5 times, and my mom 2-3 times....and then Peighton calls them from my cell phone (thank goodness for unlimited calling!), and depending on her mood....who knows who will get the call! LOL~ We all talk EVERY day though~ It is a really special bond!
Have a blessed week with Andrea and Tucker! (I know you will!!)
Jennifer Bailey
Thanks, Jennifer! Cell phones are a great invention - but more recently (since Tucker was born) we've discovered Skyping! I love being able to talk face to face with my sister and seeing Tucker changing. It's been such a blessing.
DeleteI can't wait to come home too! I told Tucker today that we are going to go see his favorite auntie and that he will get a lot of kisses on his cheekers:)
ReplyDeleteSee you in a few hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love, Andrea
I'm counting down the hours!! The girls are so excited to see you - and Tucker (and maybe Justin...)!
DeleteOh, I love this! I know exactly what you mean about missing your sister when she moved away. My sister and brother-in-law moved to Wichita a few years ago...it's killing me! :) Thankfully, it's still a drive-able distance - 6 hours. But I don't get to see her near enough...
ReplyDeleteWe've driven out to Colorado almost once a year since she moved there, but it's a 15 hour drive! One time I did it with my two sister in laws, eight children and two mini-vans! Another time we all went out to spend Thanksgiving with Andrea and her husband and we stayed in a condo in Winter Park - all eighteen of us. I wish she were closer, but I'm so thankful we still get to see her as much as we do.
DeleteHow fun!
ReplyDeleteOK, when I saw the title of this post, I immediately began singing (well, in my head...) the song from White Christmas..."Sisters, sisters..."
I didn't have a sister growing up (just one brother), though I had many friends who were as close as sisters. Now I have three sisters-in-law and I love it!
Lindsay, my sister and I used to watch White Christmas all the time and we loved that song! I thought about it, too, when I wrote this blog. :)
DeleteI'm blessed with two amazing sister-in-laws (married to my two older brothers), who have truly become sisters to me in every way. They are amazing!
